And flying to Israel 33 Woodcrest members
Silent with each other, at the start, I recall
When we came back we’d all had a ball
talking and laughing, best friends, after all
In God's own country we landed at last
met at the airport by our guide and a bus
tired of flying and with rest for the night
we woke the next morning to a beautiful sight
the sea, sunrise and breakfast delight
we drove to Caesarea the start of our tour
Herod's palace and theater of old
He was a great builder that we were told
an aqua duct from a far off mountain
brought in fresh water for his fountain
Next on our way was the Galilean sea
Tiberius our stop on the side of the shore
With the sea in the morning she sang praises to her Lord
The water so calm and the mist covered mountains
It’s easy to imagine our Lord teaching thousands
Everywhere we go, we’re told there’s a “tel”
Let me tell you my legs are going through, tell you what,
it’s down and then up and then up and back down!
Have they not heard of lifts, up and down?
But keep up with Gila as she's onward bound.
Out on a boat with a view so fantastic
up on the bow, and waving so frantic
two damsels pretending to be on the Titanic!
fish at Saint Peters boggled the mind
with head and both eyes it was a meal of a kind
A solemn afternoon, spent at Jordan
21 souls were baptized in water
With tears of joy they all went down under
Each with a testimony for all to see
the working and the grace of God’s mercy
At the Dead Sea, some floating on top
others snapping pictures we could not stop
some of our ladies with legs in the air
doing the can-can without a care
while Debbie and Terry made muddy fine pair
At 1200 feet below sea level, what a dichotomy!
Gila has told there’s no life in this sea
When Hilal shouted “shark!” All we could see
was panic on faces ’till someone said, “Dead Sea?”
Smiles all around and relief could be seen
Amongst us a boy, a formidable boy
Jared is his name and not at all coy
covered in mud, yelling "where is my pastor?"
and very soon chased him thereafter
nobody knew that that our pastor was faster!
OK folks! We were summoned by Gila
but the count on the bus was missing by one
who was it I wondered that came late on the run
why, it was Murray, with hot coffee, minus the bun
Gila waved him on, with fire in her eyes, hurry up come, come!
A cable car saved my legs this one time!
In came some ladies I think Japanese
With visors on their foreheads the size of a windshield!
Debbie laughed so; she nearly choked on her meal.
Kim, she’s our Resources Director
She, was our tour organiser
When two of our own lost the seats on the plane
She nearly drove the airline insane
In the end it was not in vain
